Jing
Jing is a free screen recorder available for Mac OS X and Windows. It provides a fast and easy interface to quick and dirty screencasts. The application records both audio and video to a fully encapsulated Adobe Flash swf file. The file includes the user interface for playback on any Flash ready system. The file sizes are competitive but not really small. The in no editing capability with the recorded output.
I had an audio capture problem on the Mac that was resolved by reinstalling the application.

Apple Core Audio Bug Sucks!
Digital Static Noise on Recording - Core Audio Bug?
"When activated, Logic Pro uses an additional buffer to process audio output streams. This provides a safeguard against crackling noises which may occur when using very low I/O buffer size settings. Essentially, it provides a little more time for the CPU to finish processing the output buffer data"
"I am seeing the same problem. It has become crippling and has me just about ready to trash the Mac and go back to Windows. It's cause me to waste an enormous amount of time redubbing failed audio recordings. It's good for a minute or a few minutes, and then it becomes highly distorted. The problem has occurred with two different MacBook Pros, with a Samson C 01 U? USB microphone, and with an entirely different audio setup using a USB mixer and analog mics."
"I'm using a G5 DP 2.3, and when recording from the USB Audio Codec*, digital noise/static kicks in after a seemingly random period of time, anything from 3 mins to 15 mins. This occurs with any audio application.
The 'workaround' is to go into Audio MIDI Setup, and change the sample rate for USB Audio Codec to 48 KHz (rather than the standard 44.1 KHz). That seems to stop it in any application, except GarageBand, which changes the sample rate back to 44.1 KHz when it opens.
I should clarify - USB Audio Codec is what's used for USB audio input devices, e.g. USB turntable (Pro-Ject III USB in my case) and some USB mics. The issue doesn't occur when recording from the computers own (non-USB) audio input, or from a (FireWire) audio interface.

"There have been reports like this from 10.4.10 to the present Mac OS as Apple made a critical change in its Core Audio drivers with the Leopard architecture. The way that we have found out to bypass this until Apple addresses this in a fix is to change the Audio Midi Setup menu options for input and output to 48k. I have attached a document showing how this can be done."

"With that I can confidently say that the Skype/Core Audio problem is definitely a Leopard bug. Chuck Freedman from my podcast was using 10.5.1 with a USB mic and insists that it’s a bug specific to 10.5.2 (his audio was fine) so that’s up for debate."
